Published purpose
This project aims to strengthen women’s and girl’s rights and promote their full participation in developing society. It also seeks to contribute to reducing gender-based violence and gender inequality. The project aims to support 100,000 women and girls with holistic care services in 7 regions with a high prevalence of gender-based violence in Senegal. These regions include Dakar, Kédougou, Kolda, Matam, Sédhiou, Tambacounda, and Ziguinchor. The project also aims to increase women’s and girls’ resilience and strengthen their ability to claim their rights, improve their access to justice and essential care services. Project activities include: (1) implementing national and local institutional plans to prevent and respond to violence and harmful practices; (2) empowering victims and survivors of violence to demand and benefit from quality, available, and known essential services; (3) increasing availability, access, and use of holistic and integrated multi-sectoral essential gender-based violence services; (4) addressing inequitable social norms, attitudes, and behaviours at community and individual levels; and (5) supporting women's rights groups, social movements, and civil society organizations to effectively influence and advance the needs of women and girls.
