Published purpose
This contribution enables the Métis Nation - Saskatchewan to develop a map that identifies traditional land use, trade routes, trails and wintering villages that were established from the buffalo trade era (1850's - 1880's) and onward. The mapping will document the areas around the National Historic Sites of Motherwell Homestead, Fort Pelly, Fort Esperance, and Fort Livingstone, locations significant to the traditional lands and regions of the Fur Trade of the 1800’s in which Métis peoples settled and built communities around.
