Published purpose
This grant supports the Nation Micmac de Gespeg for the organization of Mawiomi and the conservation of Indigenous archaeological heritage. The Mawiomi means "gathering" in the Mi'gmaq language, the population and visitors of Forillon Park are invited to attend the sunrise ceremony, the Grand Entrance ceremony and traditional dances to the rhythm of percussion and songs. Members of the Gespeg community will also participate in carrying out archaeological surveys in the company of archaeologists.
