Published purpose

This project will strengthen community engagement and support the development of a new Inuit-led research station in Mittimatalik by bringing together community members, local organizations, and researchers to identify scientific priorities, infrastructure needs, and opportunities for local employment and training. By combining long-term ecological research with Indigenous knowledge, including studies on ravens, waste management, and environmental contaminants, the project will promote community-driven research and accessible knowledge sharing through collaborations with local artists. The initiative will help build northern research capacity, create local learning and employment opportunities, and support informed environmental decision-making across communities in Nunavut and Nunavik.
