Published purpose
This study is to measure the prevalence and characteristics of a wide variety of substances, including cannabis, among injured drivers, and assess impaired driving crash risk and associated demographic factors and crash characteristics. Eleven (11) hospitals and trauma centres, in five provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario and Alberta) will be involved in the study. It will involve a combination of paid researchers and research assistants, as well as voluntary medical practitioners in the participating jurisdictions, collecting and analyzing the blood samples of injured drivers.
