Published purpose

Beginning in 2022-23, Public Safety Canada will provide annual funding directly to provinces and/or territories in order to support communities to establish and maintain CCGs. The CCGs are boards created by the communities and will be known by different names as decided by each community. The board is made up of members selected from the community that ensures the policing interests of the community are well represented.  Its purpose is to identify and advocate for the community’s policing priorities and promotes regular dialogue between the police service and members of the community. CCGs provide important governance functions and promotes regular engagement amongst members to monitor progress on the Letter of Expectation (LOE), discuss policing concerns, and adapt priorities or action plans as required.  They are central in the delivery of professional, dedicated and culturally responsive police services for First Nation and Inuit communities.
