Published purpose
The project consists of building a new police detachment in Kitigan Zibi as the existing detachment shows visible signs of disrepair and no longer meets current health and safety standards. It will be designed in accordance with the National Building Code and provincial policing standards and will be led by qualified professionals. The project assessment, made by regional PS officers and Quebec representatives, concluded that the cost of the project is reasonable in relation to the cost of similar facilities in Québec, the surface area, the remoteness of the location and the capacity of the community to implement this project. The Council appointed Mr. Éric Saumure, Engineer and Technical Advisor for the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council who has been leading similar projects for the Algonquins communities in Québec for years.
