Published purpose

The Provincial Association of Transition Houses and Services (PATHS) seeks to educate gender-based violence specialists and other human service professionals about Red Flag laws through research, training, and public awareness initiatives. Project activities include webinars, workshops, media campaigns, and an online micro-course, with educational materials hosted on the organization’s Learning Management System for ongoing staff development. The initiative supports PATHS’ mandate to build safer communities and incorporates a targeted inclusion strategy for marginalized populations, including newcomers, 2SLGBTQI+ (Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and other sexually and gender diverse) individuals, people living with disabilities, and Indigenous communities. Collaboration with legal professionals, mental health organizations, newcomer support centers, 2SLGBTQI+ and disability advocacy groups, along with consultation with survivors, ensures inclusive and effective outreach across Saskatchewan, with the ultimate goal of creating a safer, more secure, and resilient Canadian society.
