Published purpose
This project aims to assist countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to sustainably increase their agricultural productivity and improve regional food security, while adapting and building resilience to climate change. The project contributes to a multi-donor funding platform called AgroLAC 2025, coordinated by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). This fund brings together a broad range of public and private sector donors worldwide. AgroLAC 2025 identifies and supports sustainable agricultural practices and market systems in the Latin America and Caribbean region. AgroLAC has three program pillars: access to markets, productivity of farmers, and agricultural/environmental sector management. Project activities include: (1) strengthening the ability of governments to develop sustainable agricultural plans and policies; (2) strengthening the capacity of farmers to increase productivity through sustainable agricultural intensification, and (3) stimulating trade and access to regional and global food markets for farmers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
