Published purpose

The objective of this grant is to enable periodic extrabudgetary contributions to one or more of the five Voluntary Trust Funds managed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) over a three-year period. These funds allow OHCHR to respond flexibly and effectively to emerging human rights challenges by providing a range of solutions to at-risk communities, including assistance to victims (e.g., survivors of torture); the participation of Indigenous Peoples in UN processes; combating contemporary forms of slavery; and technical cooperation to strengthen national human rights frameworks. Funds such as the Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation help civil society organizations (CSOs) build institutional capacity, engage in legal reforms, and establish effective human rights protection mechanisms.
