Published purpose

This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF uses these funds and other donors’ funding to achieve its mandate. Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF supports the rights of children to help meet their basic needs and expand opportunities for children to reach their full potential. UNICEF seeks to improve the social and economic conditions of children by ensuring that they have access to health care, clean water, food, and education. UNICEF also works to ensure that children are protected from violence and abuse and receive relief in disasters. Canada's support to UNICEF helps to advance Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy. This policy seeks to help the poorest and most vulnerable, support fragile states and underpin Canada’s international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
