Published purpose

This project aims to increase the United Nations (UN) peace operations’ effectiveness to prevent child soldiers’ recruitment and use by supporting the Centre for Civilians in Conflict. It seeks to improve the UN member states understanding on implementing the Vancouver Principles and improving coordination between UN peacekeepers and other child protection actors. Project activities include: (1) conducting research on child protection needs in Mali and the Democratic Republic of Congo; (2) sharing research findings and recommendations with UN peacekeepers and child protection actors in the Central African Republic and South Sudan; and (3) conducting workshops and policy discussions with representatives from Central African Republic, South Sudan, the UN Headquarters in New York, and UN Member states.
