This 12-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: the design and installation of two billboards in the city of Sault Ste. Marie that challenge the stereotypes and focus on the sacredness of Indigenous women; as well as a Women's Gathering to provide education and awareness on systemic gender-based violence and the over-representation of Indigenous women who go missing or have been murdered, which will include a Day of Honoring to remember those Anishinaabe kwe from the Bawating region who have gone missing or have been murdered.
