Published purpose
This 50-month project will provide young women aged 18-25 with meaningful leadership opportunities to build the capacity of community organizations’ boards to implement Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) throughout their practices and policies. Young women will be provided with one-year assignments on community organizations’ boards and in consultation with their assigned board, will select a program or a policy within the organization that will be reviewed through a GBA+ lens. The organization will also evaluate the revised and enhanced project design, and implement governance training, “anti-oppression” training, increased local meet-ups, and increased ongoing support to participants from G(irls)20 staff. Through the project, volunteer boards and organizations will be engaged to consider gender equality when making decisions that are shaping their policies and programs, and a pool of organizations interested in improving their board diversity will be created. Best practices will be shared widely among volunteer organizations.
