Published purpose
This 49-month project with Migrant Workers Centre BC Society will develop and implement a specialized, trauma-sensitive, culturally competent leadership training program to equip the female survivors of labour trafficking with education and skills building to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for survivors of human trafficking. This will be achieved by developing and delivering training program, providing practicum placements, conducting outreach to program partners, and evaluating the project outcomes. At the end of the project, the organization will have developed and delivered a leadership training program and curriculum designed for the labour trafficking survivors. The participants will receive 12-hour individual paid practicum placements at the Migrant Workers Centre, as well as volunteer opportunities with the Salvation Army. The organization will also provide ongoing social services support, and post-graduation support to the participants. The project will include an external evaluation: The purpose of the external evaluation is to evaluate the promising practice(s) that was developed, tested and implemented during the course of this project. The evaluator will be external to the organization and will have experience and expertise in evaluation. The supplemental funding will be used to identify new partners, analyze and incorporate evaluation results and feedback, incorporate digital tools to streamline program delivery, expand the delivery of the course to three additional regions of British Columbia, and translate and deliver the course to Spanish and French-speaking participants.
