Published purpose

This 38-month project with the Nova Scotia Native Women's Association will develop and implement the Nova Scotia Indigenous Human Trafficking Prevention Strategy, a promising practice that will advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for at-risk populations and survivors of human trafficking in Nova Scotia. This will be achieved by creating a prevention advisory committee; by creating and implementing prevention program activities, workshops and services; by creating a more comprehensive circle of support for organizations and individuals; and by evaluating the efficacy of coordinated access as a meaningful community-based tool to combat human trafficking. At the end of the project, the organization will have the capacity to provide trauma-informed programs and services for victims and survivors, created and delivered in a culturally relevant manner, utilizing Mi’kmaw language and practices as the foundation. The project will include an external evaluation that will look at the success and scalability of the promising practices.
