Published purpose

This 27-month project with the Surrey Women’s Centre will develop and implement a peer support intervention model to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for sexually exploited youth and survivors of human trafficking. This will be achieved by planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a victim-centered, trauma-informed and gender-responsive peer support and intervention model for youth survivors of human trafficking. It will include a system navigation framework and wraparound model to coordinate formal and informal supports. At the end of the project, the organization will have their staff and community stakeholders trained in use of the new intervention model, and prepared to identify and respond to indicators of youth trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation. The project will include an external evaluation that will look at the success and scalability of the promising practices.
