Published purpose
This 38-month project with the Women’s Support Network of York Region will develop and implement an intervention model that entails the provision of support and life choice options, community resources and self-efficacy development via trauma counselling, case management, advocacy, and program management and clinical supervision, with expertise in youth survivors of sexual violence to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for survivors of human trafficking. This will be achieved by providing individual crisis intervention, counselling, safety planning, mental health and substance abuse supports, support with systems navigation, access to healthcare, legal support, housing, education and job connections, and evaluation. At the end of the project, the organization will have engaged and supported clients to develop their individual capacities and skills, to determine the course of their lives and community, and be empowered and supported in their natural abilities and capacities to handle their own affairs with maximized social well-being. The project will include an external evaluation that will look at the success and scalability of the promising practices.
