Published purpose
This 39-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow Child Care Now (Childcare Advocacy Association of Canada) to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. The focus of the project will be the establishment of childcare coalitions and networks in regions in Canada that currently lack them so as to be in a better position to advocate for the kind of evidence-based public childcare policy measures that will lead to enhanced economic security for women. Activities will include an analysis and mapping of the current state of childcare advocacy in Canada to identify the strategic targets and priorities of the project; and the development of tools, mechanisms, training, and other resources to support new and existing networks, partnerships, and coalitions. The project would help Child Care Now develop and implement sustainability strategies, including long-term planning and the diversification of its funding base. A supplement of $149,570 was granted to develop a comprehensive cross-Canada coordinated childcare advocacy strategy, as well as a supporting implementation plan, to ensure equitable access to high quality and inclusive early learning and childcare.
