Published purpose
This 57-month project will reduce barriers to stable employment and opportunities for advancement for women working in not-for-profit sectors in Ontario. Working with a project advisory committee, key stakeholders and network members, the organization will conduct a gender analysis of systemic conditions which contribute to precarious work. The project will lead to the development and promotion of new practice and policy solutions that address fair wages, pensions and other benefits, equal rights at work, and measures to improve and sustain government investment in the sector. Promising approaches and demonstration models will be piloted through partner agencies and will be shared with government policy makers, funders, and sector leaders to promote their uptake. Results will also be disseminated amongst broader stakeholders in order to strengthen coordinated responses to achieving decent work reforms for women in the not-for-profit sector. Original supplemental amount is being used to expand the work of the current project and cover the cost of mobilizing additional research to the impact of labour policies in the non-profit sector, particularly for Francophone non-profit organizations in Ontario. Additional supplemental funding will be used to continue to developing research and expanding outreach to create stronger networks to advocate for women economic security in the “care sector” revealed by COVID-19.
