Published purpose

This 30-month project will advance the economic security and prosperity of immigrant women by identifying and addressing discriminatory hiring practices, biases and other specific barriers that hinder racialized women’s employment opportunities and prevent them from fully and equally participating in Alberta’s employment economy. Association for the Alberta Network of Immigrant Women will convene a project advisory committee; work in partnership with the University of Calgary and the Alberta Men’s Network; and engage key partners and stakeholders, including immigrant women and human resources allies, to assess and address systemic change issues. Solutions that are informed by the lived experiences of racialized women will be identified and documented to contribute to a media campaign strategy. Best practices will be reviewed, and final recommendations for policy change initiatives to eliminate barriers, including a hiring model, will be advocated and shared via social media to move equitable hiring practices forward.
