Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH)

Published purpose

This 12-month project seeks to generate pan-Canadian partnerships and develop a platform to facilitate connections and collaborations among civil society, including frontline service providers. Using innovative approaches and gender-and culturally-appropriate responsive programming, the project will drive progress on gender equality. In addition, the project will provide a roadmap that Canada can utilize to address gender equality within our borders and provide an example to the international community of a united national mobilization for achieving Sustainability Develop Goal (SDG) 5 (achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls). The additional funds will be used to host a national gathering of Canada’s female community leaders – in particular, a gathering of women mayors, MPPs/MLAs, and leaders from Indigenous organizations. This event will take place in June 2021 and is a lead-up to the Generation Equality Forum (GEF) to mark the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
