Published purpose
This 71-month project will implement community-based programming that will aid in the development and testing of promising practices that enable healing from trauma after experiencing GBV. An adapt and evaluate approach will ensure appropriate support and services to underserved populations of 2SLGBTQ+, rural and BIPOC survivors on Prince Edward Island. An external evaluation will ensure evidence-based knowledge of these promising practices. With the supplemental funds and 12-month extension provided in early 2026, PEI Rape & Sexual Assault Centre Inc. will further elaborate and test the promising practice of healing and connection sessions for GBV survivors. The extension will also enable the organization to build on the project evaluation and mobilize partners and networks serving underserved populations by creating a clinical community of practice and holding a two-day evaluation retreat. Through these activities, the organization will further advance gender equality by strengthening trauma-informed and culturally grounded therapeutic services and enhancing cross-organizational relationships and collaboration.
