Published purpose

This 30-month project will develop, pilot, and disseminate a culturally sensitive Emergency Intervention Orders (EIO) process that includes knowledge mobilization and associating tools for newcomers and immigrant women in Southeastern New Brunswick to address the root causes of gender-based violence. Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre will achieve this by engaging with cross-sectoral partners through advisory committees, by conducting local scans and needs assessment, by developing new culturally sensitive EIO material and tools, and by implementing a culturally sensitive EIO process for rural immigrant female victims of sexual violence. At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice that will increase access to EIOs for rural immigrant women, enhance knowledge and confidence from EIO assisters in their ability to provide a culturally sensitive EIO process, and meet the needs of immigrant and newcomer women and decrease barriers to accessing EIOs. Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre will engage with various key stakeholders to ensure outcomes are achieved and that partners are invested in the project’s sustainability. Key partners will include women with lived experience, government agencies, private industries, and community-based organizations. Members of the Francophone minority community will play an active role in the various phases of the project, including committee membership, consultation and product development, knowledge exchange activities for assisters, as well as project evaluation. Outcome measurement tools will be created with the help of an external evaluator at all stages of the project.
