Published purpose
This 12-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The York Region Women's Foundation will achieve this by developing an advisory board, conducting a survey and focus groups among racialized women and girls, developing a Recovery Action Plan and disseminating this plan among political leaders and stakeholders. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality. This project will bring together South Asian and Black women and girls with lived experience to document the challenges experienced due to the pandemic, and to lead the dissemination of key recommendations for policy and programs towards a recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.
