Published purpose

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) will achieve this by assessing key chokepoints limiting the full participation of women in the profession, test strategies to address biggest hindrances for underrepresented groups, develop a tested resource bank for engaging, retaining, and meaningfully including women in the workforce. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by seeking to alter, reorient or connect the elements of a system in order to accelerate systemic change. APEGA will work closely with industry professionals and diversity & inclusion experts. They will engage their 75,000 members and 4,500 employer members throughout the project and the final recommendations will be shared nationally by Engineers Canada.
