Published purpose

This 30-month project will implement a systemic change strategy to achieve a competitive provincial Early Childhood Educators (ECE) wage grid to support a feminist response and recovery to address the current impacts of COVID-19. The Coalition of Child Care Advocates of B.C. will achieve this by implementing an advisory group, conducting an environmental scan, and engaging key early childhood education stakeholders in the mobilization and integration of policy and funding to create a public system of $10 a day childcare in BC of which the ECE wage grid is a central component of quality. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes. With input and advice from a range of equity -seeking groups across BC, including Indigenous colleagues, this project will partner with the Early Childhood Educators of BC and Pacific Immigrant Resources Society to engage ECEs in advocating for the full implementation of a provincial ECE wage grid.
