Published purpose
This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Candace House Inc. will achieve this by designing and developing a new approach to support those impacted by violent crime by creating a continuum of care, with a focus on women and Indigenous people. To develop this new approach, they will conduct research, engage and consult with women and stakeholders, design and create a trauma-informed, culturally safe space and monitor, review and adapt the approach as needed based on the needs of the community. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices and increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change to support women’s equality. This project will bring together government agencies, police agencies, community organizations, Indigenous-led organizations, and various other social services/grassroots organization for a coordinated approach to find a better way to support women impacted by violent crime to advance women's recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.
