Published purpose

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc. will achieve this by building a research and training institute led by Indigenous women. This organization will develop the research, evaluation, and ethics frameworks; identify community research priorities; and create a women’s leadership governance structure that focuses on utilizing Indigenous knowledge and the strengths of the community. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality.
