Published purpose

This 28-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. SIECCAN will achieve this by conducting a scan and review of GBV prevention resources/educational materials and literature review of the best practices; organizing consultation activities regarding current GBV prevention needs in sexual health education; creating resources for educators and institutions that deliver education and healthcare to Canadians; disseminating these new resources and conducting a webinar and presentations to educate target audiences to effectively utilize project materials; and evaluating the effectiveness of these new tools. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by improving the extent to which Canadian sexual health education programs effectively incorporate GBV prevention informed by an intersectional approach, to unify the education sector across Canada with respect to GBV prevention. With this project, SIECCAN wishes to ensure that sexual health education programs are more effective in addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes among youth and reducing the occurrence of GBV.
