Published purpose

This 24-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The St. John’s Women Centrel will achieve this by identifying gender equity issues across the province and share recommendations to the provincial government by increasing capacity regarding gender-based violence response in communities and workplaces across the province, and by contributing to the development of a Feminist Governance Tool and Training. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, by supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, by advancing inclusive policies and practices, and by addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality. The organization will collaborate with the Provincial Action Network on the Status of Women (PANSOW) to ensure a provincial representation and implementation to the project and will solicit the expertise of Capacity Canada to the development of a Feminist Governance Tool and Training.
