Published purpose
This 28-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic change. The FCJ Refugee Centre will achieve this by conducting community outreach and developing a peer-led Steering Committee, hosting community engagement sessions, creating a Best-Practices Toolkit for women of precarious migrant background, and conducting an evaluation of project resources. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and increased networks and collaboration to support women’s equality. This project will bring together community partners to collect anecdotal evidence of precarious migrant women’s experiences in order to improve organizational policies and services. The organization will also connect with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to provide policy recommendations for a pathway to permanent residency for migrant and refugee women.
