Published purpose
Through systemic change, this 30-month project will foster a feminist response to and feminist recovery from the current effects of COVID-19. To achieve this objective, Mères avec pouvoir (MAP) Montréal plans to: reduce the cycle of family poverty and alleviate the stigma facing single mothers by raising awareness among real estate developers about the importance of earmarking more units for this population in real estate projects; with a woman university researcher, identify best practices in co-parenting intervention, including programs for vulnerable fathers; promote social housing resources with community intervention for single mothers to reduce domestic and spousal violence in an approach geared to women’s autonomy and safety; develop a profile of single mothers and socio-professional intervention services offered in the province by collecting and analyzing community data to learn from them and by disseminating best practices in an effort to hasten systemic change.
