Published purpose

This 27-month project will strengthen the capacity of SPECTRUM Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by improving board governance, developing a strategic plan and focusing on sustainability, succession and financial planning. The project will also increase access to evidence, data, information, and knowledge sources by performing an environmental scan to assess community needs and will build the capacity by offering skills training as well as sensitivity training opportunities. Supplemental funding (Phase 2 of the project) will be used to provide additional training to continue to 1) improve board governance and accessibility; 2) implement improvements to the lending library database and directory of services for transgender people informed by the data gathered through Phase I of the project; 3) develop a corporate fundraising plan, and a community engagement program to help the organization better meet the needs of Black, Indigenous, and racialized 2SLGBTQ+ people. At the end of the project, the organization will have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
