Published purpose
This 31-month project will develop and test training for service providers supporting Indigenous LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit survivors of gender-based violence. In Phase 1 of the project, a national survey will be developed to gather information from 2SLGBTQ+ survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) on perceived service gaps and possible interventions. Trauma-informed engagements, including a national gathering, will be held to seek further input. Online training materials for service providers will be developed based on the consultations, and will be compiled into a virtual, self-led training module. The training module will be tested; with required changes identified, and adjustments made. In Phase 2 of the project, a series of online workshops will be developed to deepen the learning facilitated through the “Restoring the Circle” training module. These workshops will cover topics of the online training module in more depth and provide service providers with an opportunity to raise questions and share experiences with their peers. They will be co-developed and facilitated with 2SLGBTQ+ Indigenous partners, offering service providers an opportunity to deepen their connection to the material. In addition to the workshop series, a “Restoring the Circle” toolkit and workbook will be available for the service providers participating in the online training.
