Published purpose
This 29-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes. To achieve this, the Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec intends to diagnose and document issues related to women’s living conditions at the Joliette Institution for Women, issues rooted in gender and exacerbated by the pandemic. The Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec will then create and implement a multi-sectoral action plan as well as identify and mobilize institutional, community, and political stakeholders who have an interest in the issues under study in order to motivate them to act and bring about real change in this discriminatory system. By the end of the project, the organization will have helped address systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, and by expanding networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change in support of women’s equality.
