Published purpose

Through this 58-month project, Femmes Autochtones du Québec Inc. will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. This will be achieved by raising awareness, knowledge sharing, and fighting against discrimination through the implementation of a formal partnership/coalition between Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders with similar mandates, the organization of two conferences: one aimed towards service providers and another aimed towards the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and the development of an ongoing toolkit and resource guide which will be shared with their network online. By the end of the project, Femmes Autochtones du Québec Inc. will have strengthened its capacity to prevent and address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Femmes Autochtones du Québec Inc. will undertake a phase of consolidation and gradual structuring of the achievements of the initial project. The organization will formalize participatory Indigenous governance and develop, in collaboration with partner organizations, a simplified model for organizational capacity building. This phase will include the implementation of a collaborative process with a limited number of partner organizations, as well as the organization of a structured territorial meeting and a regional capacity-building forum aimed at sharing lessons learned. This process will enable the production and strategic dissemination of a bilingual summary report presenting the main findings and courses of action resulting from the implementation. In doing so, the organization will contribute to the progressive improvement of organizational practices and the strengthening of equitable access to services for Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people who are victims of gender-based violence, with a view to collaboration and shared learning.
