Published purpose

Through this 30-month project, People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre will increase its ability to prevent or address gender-based violence (GBV) against women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. This will be achieved by conducting an organizational and community-based needs assessment, by leading research on capacity-building learning opportunities and emerging support trends, by sustaining collaboration with community partners, and by completing an internal evaluation to identify improvements and best practices for continued self-assessment and growth. Partners involved are well-known to the organization and have contributed to the promotion of services through networks, partnered in project delivery, and acted in an advisory capacity. This project will also help create a shared foundation for all levels of the organization for GBA Plus to inform future practices and policies. By the end of the project, People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in western Newfoundland.
