Published purpose

Through this 25-month project, Tahiuqtiit Woman’s Society’s (TWS) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQIA+ people, with a focus on individuals leaving domestic violence in Ulukhaktok, NWT. This will be achieved by conducting a needs assessment, engaging individuals with lived experience, developing and implementing Inuit-centred policies and practices for women’s shelters, and disseminating learnings to other women’s shelters. By the end of the project, Tahiuqtiit Woman’s Society’s will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus on individuals leaving domestic violence.
