Published purpose
Through this 55-month project, Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) will improve its ability to serve Inuit women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people impacted by gender-based violence (GBV) by providing governance-based professional development to its Board of Directors and GBV focused training to its staff. To achieve this, TI will standardize its GBV focused training for staff to increase its ability to support, educate and provide a consistent model of care to the Inuit community. In addition, the organization will provide training opportunities to its Board of Directors to improve its effectiveness and provide it with key skills to make informed decisions that will help TI maintain its positive impact on the urban Inuit and GBV community. Following the training modules evaluation, their content will be adjusted as needed to ensure their relevance. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Tungasuvvingat Inuit will undertake new organizational capacity-building activities that operationalize and embed key systems arising from the original WAGE-funded project. Through the establishment of internal learning and development, along with strategic fundraising and sustainability functions, TI will develop standardized GBV curriculum, governance and onboarding frameworks, professional development systems, donor stewardship tools, financial sustainability models, and evaluation and reporting dashboards. These activities will strengthen TI’s internal capacity to provide safe, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded supports for Inuit women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people impacted by gender-based violence.
