Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA)

Published purpose

This 57-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through strengthening capacity of Indigenous women and organizations across the province of Ontario by providing culturally-sensitive training and resources grounded by the wisdom of Indigenous women’s perspectives and knowledge. ONWA will build its leadership through diversifying its funding case, building training and program delivery capacity. The 2023 supplemental funding will be used to build organizational capacity to affect change through membership goal setting and community planning, board governance development and membership succession planning as well as social media engagement.
