Published purpose
This 26-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow Young Women’s Leadership Network (Platform) to continue encouraging civic leadership and participation among Black, Indigenous and racialized young women and gender-diverse youth. A series of activities will be undertaken to build national, provincial/territorial and local capacity, including through fund development, human resources management and strategic planning. The project will also develop an approach to support Black, Indigenous and racialized young women to take action to advance gender equality at the national level. Youths will have access to mentors, issue-focused learning opportunities, skill-development workshops in order to learn how to advance solutions that will address the gaps facing marginalized women/femmes. A Civic Engagement Campaign as well as a Civic Leadership Curricula will be created; one curriculum focusing on advocacy and community-building (Mobilizing for Change), and the other one will provide non-partisan information about election campaigns. The supplemental funding will be used to solidify board governance procedures and policies, and design and implement succession planning processes. Additionally, by undertaking research with stakeholders, the project will develop programming and advocacy for 2SLGBTQI+ youth and young women of colour (WOC), resulting in knowledge mobilization tools to share with the public.
