Published purpose

Through this 53-month project, Ilitaqsiniq will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQI+ people in Nunavut. This will be achieved by improving the way they plan to ensure gender equity is built into their foundation, increasing their effectiveness at recruiting, and retaining staff, increasing staff knowledge including 2SLGBTQI+ and trauma Informed awareness, building a 2SLGBTQI+ innovative work pan-northern partnership network. By the end of the project, Ilitaqsiniq will have strengthened its capacity to prevent and fight gender-based violence against Indigenous 2SLGBTQI+ women, girls and people. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Ilitaqsiniq will develop a Piliriaksat Database Workforce Management Module, digitize and operationalize its new strategic plan, establish annual planning retreats for its 3 leadership cohorts , build a digital Performance Measurement and Management Framework, pilot the Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Workshop internally, and develop an Inu-vative Board Governance model for its all-women, all-Inuit Board of Directors. Through this, they will further advance gender equality.
