Published purpose

Through this 36-month project, Mi’kmaq Circle of Hope Society will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a key focus on Indigenous women and girls across the province of Nova Scotia. This will be achieved by collaborating with a network of Indigenous organizations, Grandmothers and Elders to guide the project. Mi’kmaq Circle of Hope Society (MCoH) will build its capacity by adapting its own programs and teachings to be relevant and more responsive to GBV. The organization will host knowledge sharing sessions in three communities. MCoH will also identify other organizations throughout Nova Scotia that offer GBV services to Indigenous women and girls, share their learnings with them and facilitate ongoing communications. By the end of the project, Mi’kmaq Circle of Hope Society, will have strengthened its capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women and girls and increased its collaboration with non-Indigenous organizations working to end GBV.
