Published purpose

Through this 38-month project, Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence against Indigenous women and girls. This will be achieved by implementing a wholistic approach, with violence prevention as a consideration, in reviewing their current strategic plan, developing a strategic plan for 2023-2028, updating their constitution and bylaws, developing and implementing a board onboarding protocol, creating a capacity development and succession plan, and developing policies and procedures that align with new worker’s compensation legislation. By the end of the project, Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society will have completed an assessment of their organizational gaps and created the necessary structure to ensure its long-term sustainability. This strengthened capacity will ultimately support Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women and girls, with a focus on Northern Indigenous women and girls.
