Published purpose

Through this 24-month project, Sexual Assault Services of Saskatchewan Inc. will increase its capacity to contribute to a viable women’s movement to catalyze systemic change and strengthen the Gender-Based Violence sector in Saskatchewan. This will be achieved by raising the profile and effectiveness of the violence against women/gender-based violence sector in Saskatchewan to ensure active representation of survivor needs at a policy level and through local, provincial, and national partnerships. The project objectives focus on development of policy working groups; participation in policy network tables; review of existing national and provincial legislations, regulations, and policies; travel and engagement across Saskatchewan to understand the application/impacts of legislation and policies in rural, remote, and fly-in communities; development of briefing notes and a policy review brief to provide an overview of major policy issues and sectoral trends in the province. The project will collaborate with partners who are committed to advancing gender equality priorities across all sectors including Ending Violence Association (EVA) Canada and advocacy bodies such as the Provincial Association for Transition Houses and Services. By the end of the project, Sexual Assault Services of Saskatchewan Inc. will have increased their capacity to contribute to a viable women’s movement to catalyze systemic change at the policy level and through local, provincial, and national partnerships.
