Published purpose
This 25-month project will adapt, pilot, and evaluate tools and models to expand the capacity of K–12 educators to create schools inclusive of sexual orientations and gender identities (SOGI) for all students. The ARC Foundation will achieve this by building and strengthening SOGI educator networks and carrying out two environmental scans. It will also design and pilot models to deliver the SOGI 1 2 3 program in French and in educational environments with varying funding and support contexts, create and adapt digital tools and assets to support educators, and evaluate the impact of the project. By the end of the project, the organization will have enhanced equality for LGBTQ2 people by equipping educators, school staff, and community partners with critical knowledge, tools, and supports. It will also have achieved this goal by challenging norms, attitudes, and behaviours in schools to ensure school is a welcoming, SOGI-inclusive, and positive space for all children and youth. The project's success will allow for the wider implementation of SOGI 1 2 3 in collaboration with education partners in the educational jurisdictions involved. The supplemental funding received in July 2023 will be utilized to expand the piloting of the different Business Models into two additional regions. The additional support funding will allow piloting in three regions in total, with at least one region being government supported, and at least one being non-government supported to pilot both Business Models.
