Published purpose

Through this 41-month project, Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW), Vivic Research and partners will conduct research that will help improve GBV services for at-risk groups. The project will aim to better understand non-legal approaches to support racialized, newcomer, refugee survivors of gender-based violence. To do so, the project will conduct a targeted literature review and environmental scan; host community engagement sessions including one on one interviews with community stakeholders and engage gender-based violence advocates in research project. OCTEVAW and its partners including Vivic Research will host knowledge dissemination activities to share information on the research findings. With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women will 1) Conduct Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Communications – strengthen uptake of research findings among different stakeholders through targeted messaging and engagement; 2) Build Community-Based Prevention Frameworks & Plan for Sustainability – transition research findings into practical prevention frameworks and partnership models; 3) Conduct Knowledge Outputs & Multilingual Dissemination – ensure research outputs are accessible, culturally relevant, and are being incorporated to service provision. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.
