WorQshop: Building Safer Spaces

Published purpose

Through this 40-month project, WorQshop: Building Safer Spaces will build stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. It will address the organization’s need for stronger management, governance, collaboration and evaluation capacity to diversify and advance 2SLGBTQIA+ equality . The project will include creating a financial plan, developing a human resources management strategy, developing the board’s governance skills, expanding the organization’s collaboration and onboarding diverse volunteers, as well as implementing a results evaluation plan. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, WorQshop: Building Safer Spaces will convene a Trans and Non-Binary Advisory Council and conduct community consultations to develop a trauma-informed care training resource to better support Trans and Non-Binary communities, and share the finalized curriculum, facilitator guide, and participant toolkit with staff and community partners. Through this, they will further advance Gender Equality.
