Wood Buffalo Pride Society

Published purpose

Through this 42-month project, Wood Buffalo Pride Society will build stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. It will address the challenges faced by the organization as they transition from being a volunteer run organization to having paid staff to address the increasing need for support services and expand to include rural Indigenous communities in the region. The project will include creating and implementing a five-year strategic plan, and financial sustainability plan. To achieve these goals, Wood Buffalo Pride Society will partner with various community organizations to leverage their network and to ensure a coordinated approach to better serve the needs of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the Wood Buffalo Pride Society will implement and update their Strategic Plan, complete Board governance and capacity training, increase organization knowledge of the community, increase National partnerships and build community capacity. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.
